Drew’s Place – Fort Worth, Texas

When I need comfort food this is where I go.  I will go as far to say that this is my absolute favorite place to eat in Fort Worth.

Since 1987, Drew’s Place has been serving some home cooked Soul Food.

Their fried chicken is the best in The Fort.  It’s crispy, juicy and full of flavor. Made fresh when you order, it takes about 20 minutes to hit the table.  You can call ahead and preorder if you are in a time crunch.

When the logo says “It’s all good!”, they are not kidding.  The Smothered Pork Chops, Meatloaf (when they have it), Baked Chicken, Catfish (regular or spicy), Chicken Fried Steak, Chicken and Dressing (when they have it) – EVERYTHING  is good.

That goes for their sides too. The Candied Yams are not all sugar and you can taste yams.  The Mac & Cheese is homemade.  Collards Greens are the bomb.  The Fried Okra stays crispy throughout the whole meal. I love the Black-eyed Peas.  You can get potatoes anywhere – go for the gold here and get something that nobody makes like Drew’s Place.

Then you either get Texas Toast or Cornbread.

You might as well go for dessert too, which is all made in house. Italian Cream Cake, Pecan Pie, Sweet Potato Pie, Chocolate Sheet Cake, and my favorite – Peach Cobbler. Now, I love pie, but I am not a big cobbler fan.  But THIS – this is different.  This is like a hot peach cobbler cake and then you put ice cream on it.  OMG.  There are just no words.

Mr. Drew and his wife are always there working hard.  I could talk to both of them all day long.  Their staff works just as hard and everyone is so nice.  They take pride in their place and their food and they should.  It is pure awesomeness.
