Misty Keasler: HAUNT – Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

Part of The Blog Cabin’s 31 Days of Spooky Fun 2017 Series

I seriously enjoyed the hell out of this.

Photographer Misty Keasler from Dallas has an exhibit at The Modern Museum of Fort Worth titled “HAUNT”.  It contains images from 13 haunted houses across the US.  These are not houses that are haunted, but rather the staged frightening kind you pay to be terrified in.

As creepy as you can imagine, Keasler has photographed scenes and characters in a hauntingly beautiful way.  Surprisingly, light plays a big part in the photos.  There are either pops of color that draw the eye or the rich starkness of the subject.

I LOVE museums, but I know some people don’t prefer spending their time on them.  For those that don’t, this is not your typical art exhibit.  At this time of year, it is really fun and creative.  I would describe it as a mystical way of seeing through this incredibly talented photographers eyes.  And while you are there, check out some of the other works at The Modern.  You may just change your mind about museums altogether.
